Also known as Ironclad Beetles. Often seen lumbering around at night in search of food. They will flop over and outstretch their legs to appear dead and stay very still for a long time. The powdery blue coating on their bodies is a wax secretion to keep them from losing moisture.

There are similar looking beetles also referred to as Ironclad Beetles but they are black in color and are the species: Cryptoglossa variolosa
