An invasive, flowering tree/shrub from Southwest Asia that has spread across much of the American Southwest. It is a thirsty plant that spreads easily and is a big competitor against the local plant life. Because the tree is not a good food source for many insects or birds, it doesn't do much to help the local wildlife aside from providing some habitat for some species. In Slab City, it is one of the larger trees you can find along with Ironwood and Palo Verde.

The Salt Cedar gets it's name from it's ability to tolerate salt water and secretes excess salt through glands on it's leaves, which creates salt deposits beneath the tree, killing off any other plant life.
